Welcome to the Design course. Design is an integral part of front-end development, shaping the way users interact with websites and applications. Course Overview

This course is structured into four comprehensive modules:

  1. Module 1: Fundamentals of Design: This module lays the foundation of design principles, covering topics such as content management, layout fundamentals, branding, and visual hierarchy. These concepts form the backbone of effective design, influencing how users perceive and interact with a website.

  2. Module 2: Colours and Typography: Here, you’ll delve into the world of colours and typography, two elements that significantly impact a website’s aesthetics and readability. You’ll learn about the use of colours on the web, effective font pairings, and the basics of typography.

  3. Module 3: User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design: This module introduces you to the principles of UX and UI design. A well-designed user interface enhances usability, while a good user experience ensures user satisfaction. You’ll learn how to design interfaces that are not only visually pleasing but also user-friendly.

  4. Module 4: Prototyping and Wireframing: The final module focuses on prototyping and wireframing, essential tools in the design process. These tools allow you to visualize your design and make necessary adjustments before moving to the development stage.

Assessment

This course ends with a formative assessment of the concepts covered. Please read through the brief carefully, asking your peers or instructor if you need clarification. The marking criteria is published for your reference, consider using this to self assess your work before submitting. Self assessment has a proven positive impact on learning outcomes.

Remember, peer discussion, feedback and review is a normal part of the design and development process. You are encouraged to discuss your work with your peers and instructor before submitting.
